美好願景人人嚮往，但現實的個人、社會、國家無法發聲的情況所在多有。尤其身為多元背景下的台灣人對此處境應該不陌生。我們都渴望自己的聲音被認同和被理解，但即使在可以自由發言的狀態下也很難達成，到底是甚麼隱形的力量抑止我們說出心中的話呢？這種態度可以延伸到國家認同、個人身分認定、性別認同等所有衝突事件上。真正的抑鬱是深刻入骨的自我審查和批判，將導致自由開放的表皮下，我們仍有多數人在害怕中隱埋了真實想法。

A good vision is everyone’s want, but it is rare for a real individual, society, or country to be unable to make a voice. We all yearn for our voices to be recognized and understood, and even when we are free to speak, we are not necessarily able to speak what we really want, what invisible forces prevent us from saying what is in our hearts? True melancholy is deeply rooted in inner self-censorship and criticism, which leads to freedom and openness becoming superficial, and most of us still bury our true thoughts in fear.
