阿飛與身為印度華僑的母親同住。暑假的最後一天，從母親罵醒貪睡的阿飛開始。一整天母子倆都紛爭不斷。夜晚，沮喪的阿飛整理書包時，突然搜到一捲錄音帶，那是他完全遺忘的暑假作業：一份記錄暑假生活點滴的錄音作業。
眼看暑假已進入尾聲，作業可能來不及完成，阿飛覺得「人生要毀滅啦！」在母親的提議下，阿飛只好硬著頭皮與母親再過一次暑假的最後一天。但這假的一天，阿飛想過不一樣的人生，並且意外地得到母親的溫馨驚喜……
Ah-Fei is the second generation of an immigrant family from India to Taiwan. To himself, he’s no different from other Taiwanese kids, but his family is a little too special for what he’d like it to be. Later that evening, an unpleasant surprise strikes Ah-Fei, he realizes the most important part of the summer homework project, recording a summer day on the tape, had been completely forgotten.
“Why don’t we just redo the day?” Ah-Fei ’s ma asked. At this suggestion, they restart the last day of Ah-Fei’s summer, and ultimately decide to pass the day differently
